Parathyroid
Disorders
^top
The parathyroid glands are located in the
neck frequently attached to the thyroid gland. They are partially
responsible for controlling the level of calcium in the bloodstream,
bones and muscles. Many times these glands malfunction and require
either medical or surgical treatment. If the Calcium level in your blood
is too high symptoms such as tiredness, muscle aches, nausea, and mood
changes can occur. A simple blood test is all that is required to
diagnose parathyroid disease.
Thyroid Disorders

The thyroid gland is located in the front
of the neck just below the voice box (Adam’s apple). Its purpose is to
make thyroid hormone which controls the body’s metabolism. Lumps can
arise in the thyroid necessitating medical evaluation. Our physicians
are specialists in evaluating and treating such thyroid problems. Such
evaluation may include blood tests, needle aspiration, ultrasound,
iodine scan and sometimes surgery.
